My Counseling Philosophy:
I believe that the quality of our relationships determines the quality of our life. Human connection has transformative power, affecting most aspects of our every-day life, our health and well-being. Together, we will work to understand, manage and resolve any painful stresses and difficulties that life can bring at times, whether they are more specific and immediate problems, or regarding longstanding and wider issues. You will gain the skills you need to be able to succeed in life the way you want to – there is nothing that needs to stand in your way to accomplish your wishes and goals.
Training and Therapy Approach:
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and received my training at Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. I have been in practice for 16 years and formally trained in Psychodynamics. I have received advance training in Trauma work and have extensive experience providing Trauma Informed Care for both individuals and groups. As a trauma therapist, I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (CCTS-I) and utilize evidence-base modalities. Additional trainings include: Psychological Recovery Following Disaster and Trauma, Gestalt Therapy, Supervising Trauma Work, and various other trainings.
I specialize in providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, young adults, and established adults to support their growth and transitions. I work with individuals struggling with a range of emotional and behavioral distress to include; Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Grief & Loss, Weight Problems, Stress-Related Issues, Parenting, and matters relating to Relationships and Narcissism. I also work with more specific problems such as; Compulsions, Resistant Depression and Persistent Panic Disorder. Using a depth-oriented, integrative and supportive approach, I work with the unique needs of each person, focusing on the conscious and unconscious connections of mind and body.
What to Expect from Me:
You can expect that I will approach our work together in an open and honest manner while being thorough and attentive to your needs, interest, questions and concerns. I am dedicated to your progress and healing journey. My approach to therapeutic change includes being clear and practical while being aware that change and uncertainty is difficult. While therapy does require commitment and work, it does not have to be overwhelming or scary. I believe that you can change behaviors that no longer serve a purpose. There is no need for you to start this journey alone, take the first step and give us a call.
When I Am Not Working:
In my time off I like being outdoors, hiking and exploring nature. I enjoy spending time with my family and our dog, who loves to go on trips with us. I often attend community, art and cultural events and enjoy connecting with people. When I am not reading or being outside, I like to spend my time woodworking, both restoring antiquated and creating new furniture.
