My Counseling Philosophy:
I passionately believe that each person has an opportunity to live life to the fullest. This is only achieved by hard work, dedication, and acceptance. I am very dedicated to help my clients be the best they can possibly be. I am a believer that everyone can benefit from counseling. Whether there are just a few areas of concerns, or too many to fathom, I will work with you to obtain your goals. I am looking forward to experiencing this journey with you.
Training and Therapy Approach:
I am a License Professional Counselor and a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor. I hold two masters degrees from Grand Canyon University. The first master’s degree I obtained is Masters of Science in Addiction Counseling (MSPC) and the second is a Master’s of Science in Professional Counseling (MSPC). I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) I &II through the EMDR institute. I have extensive, evidenced based training in helping people with substance abuse as well.
I work with individual adults seeking relief from past traumatic events. Trauma is different for everyone and I focus on many types of trauma and symptoms. My areas of specialty include Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Emotional Stress, Chronic Pain, Substance Abuse, Anxiety, Depression, Codependency, Life Transitions, and Spiritual Concerns/Trauma.
In addition, I provide couples therapy and family therapy to support the progress of indiviudals and create harmony in relationships.
What to Expect from Me?
I am very focused on helping my clients not only process their trauma in a productive way, but improve their overall quality of life in the present. I understand that many people have concerns about processing their trauma. This is very common and I will work with my clients to appease this apprehension. I am a firm believer that we can do so much more than we think we can. The most powerful progress I see in my clients are those who come to counseling with an open mind, and open heart, and motivated to put in the work asked of them. Strong and healthy changes are around the corner. If you are willing to take a step of faith, I will help you walk through the wall of uncertainty.
When I am not working:
I have a very vast appreciation for animals. When I was younger, I wanted to be a marine biologist. Even though my career interest has changed, I still have a passion for sea life. I was born in Southern California and have several family members living in California. Therefore, I drive to the beach every chance I get. One of my goals in life is to visit every major aquarium in the country. I was thrilled with when a large aquarium opened in Scottsdale. My love for animals is not limited to sea life. I also enjoy learning about all animals including reptiles, birds, and large mammals. Another great passion of mine is reading. I am a huge believer in positive psychology and creating a positive mindset. I try to live this by reading as many positive, motivating books as possible. I truly believe it has made a difference in my life.
